Morning Gents,
Has anyone changed the valve seals in the auto box valve housing? If so, what are the pitfalls?
thanks in advance.

Don't even think about it, there are no valve seals. Even if you are competent don't go near a valve block without a service sheet.

+1000000000000000000000000000000 to the above....

RRPhil (Bemble) or JamesMartin maybe able to provide more technical response, but it is a can of worms that is spring loaded....!!!

HolidayChicken, sent his to RRPhil (Bemble) for checking and possible refurb...without the info, it would be foolhardy to attempt!

Thanks but............................No Thanks:D you gents have scared me off that job:rolleyes:
In another life I used to be a Diesel Mechanic and stripped and rebuilt lorry gearboxes inc the Fuller Roadranger but that was a long time ago and with the benefit of a decent workshop. I think I will pass on this one and try another dose of snake oil.
Incidentally Data, I wouldn't mind a look at the service sheets you mention if it is no trouble.
Thanks again
Bill

Were did you get those Keith? You can fire me a copy over if you feel inclined.:)
Took a lot of looking to find them for free, quite comprehensive, never had the courage to try and use the info though.
It's actually for Porsche, BMW, Audi, but the P38 is the same as the 4 solenoid version.
PM me with an email address:)

Ok will do. Easy with service sheets IF you know what you are doing in the first place.

As I said to Wammers, PM me with an email address.:)

Having looked through the service sheets I fully understand your advice not to attempt to try to repair or service the valve block. Thanks for the good advise and the opportunity to study the info, very informative.
