I have found this but still not sure as i known dexron III was introduce in 1993 and the P38 was in 1995 ,,but that come the Dexron IV in 2005 that said it lso compatible ,,, correct me if it is fault,,,,,, thank ,,,,,,,,,,

DEXRON ® -VI ATF is a next-generation fluid approved for use in passenger car and light truck automatic transmissions that require a General Motors DEXRON®-VI or earlier generation DEXRON ® fluid. It is formulated to provide improved oxidation
stability, shear stability, friction durability and foam resistance compared to earlier generation DEXRON ® fluids to help ensure long service life, better performance in extreme conditions and consistent shift performance for the life of the fluid. It is particularly recommended for use in new GM 6-speed automatic transmissions, and is fully backwards compatible with older GM automatic Transmission

Use what you want to. Landrover say Dexron II or III.

All the newer versions of Dexron are supposed to be backwards compatable. Parsonally as Wammers said I would use II or III, they will do the job and are likely to be cheaper than the newer versions and carry no risk of agravating seals etc.
