Just wondering if anyone has had a problem with the kick down on there auto box 2000 td5 auto, it use to pick a lower gear going up hills an when I’d put my food down but I run it out of fuel, it took awhile to get it started again after priming the fuel pump. Once I filled it up I jumped it off my Range Rover because the battery died trying to start it again, but noticed right away no kick down when I put my foot down or go up hills now the gears just drag out, any advise would be appreciated, my disco is completely standard other than a egr delete, iv tried changing the oil on the trans box but nothing not sure if my fuel pump has sucked ****e up but would that stop the kick down happening, does the td5 have a kickdown cable? I recently had a new manifold gasket done an there was oil leaking slight into the manifold too thanks

From what u say it appears the electronic automatic transmission ECU has logged a fault.
Below is what the D2 workshop manual states on kick-down not functioning, and you will find more information if you have a copy of the manual which can be down loaded from the www if you dont.

Is it staying in one gear?
No mate it drives normal but soon as I put my foot down ect or up hill there’s no kickdown where there was before, I can bounce the accelerator pedal and it will kick down but it use to do it fine whenever I increased the rpm
