Having been through and still ongoing saga of my P38 `overheating` (see earlier post), yesterday afternoon I attempted to flush the radiator through.

This seemed to be going ok with the engine running at idle and temperature reaching centre on the gauge after about 5 minutes. I decided to spray some WD40 into the engine bay to displace some of the water that had escaped due to the previous pressure in the header and whether coincidentally or not, an error message appeared on the dash saying either "transmission failure" or "gearbox failure" and then the engine cut and wont crank over. It all happened so fast, and there are no more warning messages, I am not sure what the error read!

I disconnected the battery and reconnected in the vain hope it might reset something, but to no avail. Dead, all lights on, no error message, but no cranking. I have shifted the auto stick around and tried starting in neutral and park, etc, nothing.

Any ideas as to what might be happening? Terminal, catastrophic, worse????

Thanks in anticipation for your thoughts and merry Christmas.

Robin.

Not a great deal but essentially the superficial hosing and left engine area bay as you look at the car. I guess the timing suggested to me an association as nothing else had changed or happened before.

Water had erupted with the Kseal copper content from the expansion chamber when I stupidly took the cap off and burnt myself. I hadnt reckoned on it being so pressurized.

Any idea what I could have done?

Thanks.

plugs under header tank clean with wd 40 and reconnect if saturated in water

Thanks `Fanatic` I did that, a strange plug but to no avail. Still wont even turn over!!

However, having put the battery on charge I began to hear a weird intermittent groaning from around the front left radiator region and then the horn came on permanently?

So to recap. There are no warning messages except the windows not set (I took out the battery to charge fully), the horn would be on constantly, except I have removed the fuse, and the motor will not attempt to turn over, electrics just `down` on turning the ignition key.

I would really appreciate your thoughts, I cant move the car to get it tested!

Many thanks, Robin.

if you have had the battery off , have you tried a eka reset to activate the system again ?

Have you tried Pressing the fob buttons to make sure engine isn't deadlocked by immobilizer.

Take the plugs out and turn engine over by hand on crank pulley bolt
(with ratchet and socket), do all the plugs look the same?
