transmission failsafe :-(

Hi guys
So I moved on from my beloved p38 to an 03 reg l322. Love the car hate the Niggly faults. When I'm driving it around 10 minutes into any journey I get the dreaded transmission failsafe message but it has no effect at all on gear selection or function. It can come on then off up to 8 or 10 times a minute then not appear for another ten minutes. Going to change the oil and filter tommorow and see but any advice would be great cheers

It's a diesel. U also think I may have fixed it. I put it into low today and it got stuck there. A lot of fiddling with the switch and disconnecting the battery a messing I got it To go back into high and the failsafe problem has disappeared. So can I assume it's the motor for the high low???!

Yes, it's usually either low battery voltage or the transfer box shift motor rotary potentiometer that's the cause :

Ahh ok I'll keep my fingers crossed and avoid low range for a bit thanks for your help
