hi guys

Ive recently bought another p38 as i missed my faultess 2.5 diesel.

however this time its a v8 1997 model and AUTOMATIC

let me begin, I knew it wouldnt go in low range but as Ihad this problem on my last I wasnt too fussed as I THOUGHT itd be an easy fix........ so far its not!!!

I went straght to the ecu and opened it up (didnt need to as it stunk when i was near it) either way I opened it up and it was clearly fried its an AMR 6353 and replaced for the same kind, it arrived and I plugged it in, now the sport button lights up and dash states its in sport, also the cruise control now works but trying to put it in low it just sits there beeping.

So I tried the next best thing THE MOTOR yep that was siezed so I replaced it.

STILL NOTHING it just beeps>............. If i put a fuse it number 11 its tells me its in neutral but put it in drive and yep it drives.

Ive put a 12v to the motor and it manually goes into low and I can manually put it in neuatral and high, I tried moving the motor in increments to see if the switches was slightly out...... STILL NOTHING!

Im at a total loss as to what it could be. also it could be a red herring but the battery light flashes randomly whilst the ignition is on 12v at battery but it goes off when engine is running and the voltage at battery is 14v

any advice would be appreciated and a solution would gain you a theoretical christmas card and easter egg lol thanks in advance guys

I'm going to try an amr 6353 instead. It was a thought that the sized motor took out new ecu but nothing appears in towards inside of it.

What I find strange is the functions that are now working that didn't before.

Lots of auto functions affected by the transfer ECU. Motor drive transistor can pop with no visible signs.
I assume the new motor was fitted with the timing done correctly?

I guess you're right it could be the output that's gone.

Yeah gear box drives spot on in d it changes smooth and kicks down as needed.
1 2 and 33 all work too and displays are correct.

By timing being correct I the motor was set at high range and the everything was set to high range also.

I did the same as I did on my last rr but that was a manual and the only difference was the motor (albeit was weak) it still worked.

Thanks for your inputs so far.

You have to have the timing correct on the switch assembly in the transfer motor.
