transfer case and oil?

Hi guys. would i get away with using 75w 90 in my transfer case? Should be 80w 90. I have some from an oil change i didn't do on my Jeep

They are both same grade of oil 90, but as it's a multigrade it's modified for give similar protection in colder weather so 75w gives a bit more than 80w.

I use 80w90 as I also live in the southeast so its not that cold in winter -5c maybe but in Scotland -15c thay may wish to go with 75w90.

There's lots of info on the www on gear oils, grades and operating temps.

Ok, on that basis I think i will use it and save going through the hassle of selling it on ebay and buying 80

Hi Kev, the only thing you need to check is the std of the oil - is it to GL5? If it is it's fine to use.
