Had my latest Disco 1 for 4 months and just sailed through MOT today. I have one grumble though, I can select high/low ratio (using muscle) but she will not engage diff lock. Is it possible the linkage has just seized through never being used? Was hoping to go green laneing tomorrow but dare not without this working properly,

It's a common problem and it can be loosened with a big hammer and some WD40 usually... But I've never been able to get mine unstuck... Haven't tried for about a year now but last time I tried someone told me some models don't come with the locking centre differential... I'm not sure I believe it but I sure as hell can't unseize mine if it's there at all.

Anyway if you can't unsieze it it's not a huge problem for green laning (unless you're doing something serious). I've never had any trouble... Just drive smart, don't do anything where your wheels will leave the ground and try to carry as much momentum as possible through tricky bits (without damaging your car or the track/surroundings obviously)

Anyway this guy's got some ideas on how to fix it: Fixing a Land Rover Discovery Stuck Differential Lock or Transfer Case

I know but the guys I was going with are big time into it and said that their vehicles would spend all the day winching my Disco out of the ****e! Was looking forward to it as it was Salisbury Plain.
