Transfer box gear selection.

My friend has changed transfer boxes. Now that he has it all back together it will not select low, neutral and high are ok but it jumps out of high when driving. Not that this makes much difference I feel, but its a V8 with auto box. Any ideas? Thanks. G.

Linkages not setup properly, if he changed them over, or doesn't know the history of the other box and the linkages it came from then it could need tweaked, also I assume it was a retro fit auto box which means that things have to be improvised a bit, and even with a good kit linkages still need to be setup correctly to work.

Or the box is just shafted.

lift the linkage off, move by one spline, if better continue until correct otherwhise it's the other direction. or as discomania says it's knackered.LEE
