Guys

I have a confession to make, after 9 months happy ownership of my 300tdi I am going to have to let it go....the price of diesel has gone up way to much and its been costing me around £90 a week to get back and forth to work around 250-300 miles per week of stop start traffic.

Plus each time i take it out off road I break it and thats not great, might only be a steering arm here and there but i have little time to repair it, plus the neighbours are sick of seeing it in bits on the drive.

So, i know your going to hate me, i bought a Landcruiser, the 4.5 litre amazon model with LPG tho' ! Ok start the " I wouldnt get one of those because........................" thread

I admit i miss driving the disco, but i dont miss the lack of power and flimsy undercarriage, i now have 232bhp the equivalent of 40+ to the gallon (monetary terms that is ) it runs 35's with no lack of road manners and well its monsterous off road with 3 diff locks.

Sorry guys, i made this decision purely on a financial basis.........

Anyone want a 98 Disco with 33's and all the kit? :( :( :(

Keep it!!! Get Paxo like Grippa or a Pug like me and use that fer your commuting. I got my Pug for £500. Does about 50 to the gallon. Ok its off the road at the moment cos i've buggered the water pump but it's cheap to run and insure and I get to keep my Landy (which is also broken!). I've got the noo pump reddy to fit, it won't take long once I prise meself away from the pooter... I say get yerself a second motor!!:D

Much as it pains me to say it, it was a good move getting that fekin tw@tting little car. Apart from looking a total tit, I'm laughing all the way to the bank. Best bit is if I start a job on me Landy I dun't have ter git it finished ready for work on Monday, so no Sundays, midnight, in the dark trying to get this or that to work!

Aye. I know what you mean. Since I got the Pug I must of saved £150 per month in doozul. And like you say, there is'nt a mad rush to get me Landy fixed when its broken.. Best of both worlds I reckon.

The toyota landcruiser is the most reliable 4x4 money can buy so you've made a really good choice. Im a Rover V8 nut which makes me a disco man forever.

The average Brit drives a japanese car to an irish pub to drink beer from belgium. He wears 'designer' clothes from hong kong singapore & taiwan. Collects a turkish/indian/italian meal on the way home, eats sitting on a swedish sofa watching american programmes on a japanese telly.........then complains about the state of the economy/lack of employment...

Do we hold you personally responsible... YOU BET!

I went for the 2nd cheap car option after buying my rangie,1.3 escort which is handy for back and forth to work and also gives more time when carrying out repairs/welding:D

I drive a little suzuki carry van for work.Ive had the **** taken "sooty van " "florists Van" even "butty van."Great little vans though 34 mpg around town with tools in back.Im a builder (but only in a small way) :D

how much you lettin the disco go for? lpg is good now but the bubble will soon burst as the price has gone from 20p a litre to over 50 in a couple of years can only see it going up

See i wish i could be sensible with a second car but i just cant drive a piece of s**t thats why apart from my V8 disco i drive a 286BHP 4.0 V8 BMW.

No im 34 self employed and work from home i earn around £800 a week so petrol prices are not that important to me but BHP is

that's why I like this forum, it takes all sorts to make it.

To be honest Robs I've just recently sold my 740i, cos I thought it was a bit pants.

Not that quick and waaaaayyyyyyyy too heavy to handle in anything like quick-driving mode.

Each to their own, of course.

Now, give me a little Lotus Elise or similar and that would be a different story. 40 mpg when driving normally, quick as fµck when silly-head on :D

Ps Now that's the advantage of a french keyboard !!!!

the 7 series has tottaly different characteristics though and was prob on an auto box, if its speed and handling then it has to be a 3 series, the 5 makes a nice bruiser of a car though with all that extra weight on the rear, bet yer dint have an lsd on it did yer! ;) as much as i like the 98 style 7's i always go for the xj's when i look at somthing that size :p

You've actually hit the nail on the head - I should have bought an XJ8.

Yes, I know, it's not an Elise, but driving an XJ Jag really does make you feel very special - well that's my opinion anyway.

But as I'm skint now, it's all just pipe-dreaming

Be lucky

Dave

The 740i is a much heavier car my 540i does 0-62MPH in 6.2sec and it handles like a dream.
