2012 Range rover sport.
Bought my RR sport with no trailer electrics fitted, do i need a OEM wiring harness and reprogramming, or,,, can i buy a 7 pin plug off Ebay and connect direct from the rear light harness?
I know i should really get the OEM but im in rural France so a little difficult

To be honest get the right 1.
It has to shut off reverse sensors and inhibit suspension, and god knows what else on a 2012.
So your choice;)

Oh and get the 13pin, probably can’t get 7 for such a Morden car anyway.

shouldn’t need reprogramming as far as I know.

Also, when you are the proud owner of a new leccy socket for your Rangie, don't be surprised if the trailer electrics don't correspond with the wiring to the socket. (That's if it's a Froggy trailer) I had hours of fun finding that out.:mad:

I did the same thing on my D3, which is very similar.
You should get the correct harness, and the CCF files will need to be reconfigured to trailer socket fitted mode. Not doing so will mean that the vehicle won't enter trailer fitted mode, which inhibits the rear sensors and rear fog lights. It also prevents the suspension from going to high when rock crawl is selected, and activates the anti sway function.

Welcome to the France thing, get your self a vehicle specific towbar and electric kit. Don't cheap out on a universal wiring kit. Ask @Mukiwa how we got on with his audi Q7 and the network wiring so the car knows the trailor is on and adjusts cooling and braking to suit. ;)
