Hi gents

Have a traction failure report and engine won't turn over. Started with an ABS fault reported which I tried to clear using hawkeye. Did not clear it. Car had already started this morning but a bit sluggish. I have disconnected and reconnected to battery but did no good. currently waiting for the rescue service.

Sounds like battery going down and throwing up odd messages, as Alan said check battery and alternator when running, more info on engine an year helps:)

Have striped and cleaned carbs now, all i did before was put two stroke fuel in and give it a go, not bad for 13 years not running.

Hi Gents, thanks for your answers, Mayday recovery came out and tested the battery and advised me to buy a new one. He said it might be okay if I charged it but he reckoned it was about nackered. It has been on the car since I bought it over 4 years ago so I figured maybe it had done okay. Anyway hope it will be okay now. Going to test alternator function today just to be sure. I also need to acquire new battery cables cos the terminals are a bit loose. I need to use it today so hopefully it will be okay now.

Hi Bill you have been quiet for some time. As others said, battery and/or alternator would be a fair bet.
Hope you are keeping well.

Hi Keith, not been doing much on the computer/net at all really. Computer has been dodgy, working sometimes and not others. We are okay here, had a couple of health scares but all OKAY. Hope all is well with you. As Sue says, getting old is not for sissies;)

all the best.

We have our little problems too, nearly finished the new kitchen though despite the problems. Glad you are keeping well:D

Bit of advise for anyone trying the same sort of thing. Take the plugs out and put a little oil in each cylinder disable ignition then spin engine on starter til oil lamp goes out. Then put plugs in and try the start. :);)

My uncle used to do that way back in the mists of time-always worked!!

I am from the mists of time believe me. Putting compression and combustion loads on bearings that have been dry for years is not a good idea. :);)

Yep turned it over by hand then starter to make sure it was ok and get some oil round then plugs in and try to start it.
