Hi all i got a quick question regarding t/c. I did a RTV trial the other day and was impressed with D2 apart from one slow section where there was a cross axle. D2 just stopped bit of flashing from T/C light but no forward movement. ( i have no CDL or internals in box 02 model ) . I had revs about 1500 and kept them there as i have read and waited for forward action but nothing. Back home i have jacked opposing corners and put axle stand under opposing corners and tried again. Wheels obviously spin then they brake for like half a second then spin but it makes no attempt to drive off axle stands. I know this is maybe a dodgy test but can't think how else to do it? Am i expecting to much from T/C or should it be able to drive car off axle stands? Thanks in advance for any opinions cheers Matt

The TC should be able to get you out of a cross axle situation. Yes, dodgy test - hopefully the axle stands won't hit anything vital as they get dragged over.

Does the Disco brake alright when on road? Pull up in a straight line? You're not missing some brake pads etc? ;)

Hi Difflock and yea i aware bit dodgy test wasn't planning on actually driving it off axle stands just really wanted to feel some evidence of forward motion/pull . Yea brakes fine on road pulls up in straight line and all brakes present and correct have jacked up each corner and tried to turn wheel with brake on and they all lock. have jacked up one corner at a time on trolley jack and it will pull forward in that scenario.

No you aren't expecting too much from the TC from the sounds of it. Yes the TC will allow it to drive off axle stands I would avoid that !! Sounds like 1500RPM perhaps wasn't enough power to get you out of that particular situation.

You Should keep increasing the power slowly whilst allowing the TC to work it's magic and pull you through (assuming you have good traction to the wheels firmly on the ground and they arn't just spinning too)

If there is an issue, if the TC light is eliminating and you can hear the ABS pump working, I would assume it's with your brakes and they aren't as effective as they should be.

I have always given up trying to get TC to work off road, too many revs.

So I take the sensible option on mine and push a lever to the left

TCS still does for more than just a centre difflock. Ok, in a D2 with no CDL, the TCS has to work overtime and you have to think ahead a little more to get it working. But TCS has the potential to make all 4 wheels rotate, while CDL will only ever manage 2 when cross axled.

Good demonstration of how TCS works and the technique to make it work.

It's not a Land Rover, but works on exactly the same principle (might even use the same software).
