Anyone know how to trace a location of a series 2a. I have been on direct gov tax enquiry and it was last taxed in the 90s. I am curious as it belonged to my father who passed away recently.

I may be mistaken here but I thought that the only way you can get info via the V888 is if you are shown as the registered keeper.

I remember one of our office girls telling me it cost just over two pounds to get the vehicles details from the dvla, for insurance claims etc.

just attatch a letter of explaination of your reasons for finding this vehicle to the v888 form but make sure you state you have a strong intention of purchaseing the vehicle in question or if thats not possible to atleast gain first refusal if the vehicle ever comes up for sale again

if i owned it and someone ever came to me asking for first refusal for those purpouses id deffinately bare them in mind plus for the current keeper it takes the hardship out of selling it such as wont have to advertise and watch all the tyre kickers out there as id know i have a genuine buyer on hand

also on the v888 form theres a helpline number wich when i foned it the advisor was very helpful with any question i had even when i asked whats a bloody good excuse for looking for this vehicle also the v888 form needs a postal order of £5 attatching to it as a surcharge for the dvla for this service

the way it works is you ask DVLA where it is withn the form via post then they ask the current keeper if he wants you to know where it is with your reasons via post and await his reply if he does reply to the dvla they will then contact you with the outcome

this method can take a couple of months so it is the long winded way around it but it is guaranteed and if you dont get any reply as to the whereabouts of the landy the dvla will refunbd the £5 postal order to you

hope this helps

john ( still awaiting reply about my old landy ):D:rolleyes:

Thanks for replies everyone. I am going to ring DVLA this week. Its reg number is 8199hn if anyone is aware of it. I suspect it will be buggered being off road so long, but even if I could obtain a photogragh it would mean the world under these circumstances. Cheers all again Bri
