HI all:)
Just a quickie, does anyone use spring assisstors when towing? I have a twin axle Abbey Spectrum with a MTPLM of 1770Kg and have recently bouhgt a 96 V8 LPG converted auto Disco to tow with will I need to have spring assisstors or not? Thanks for looking :)Dave

I wouldn't think so, if you check the maximum permissable nose weight for a Disco you will find it so high that its not worth checking the caravan nose weight again.

same advice.. but a couple of notes of caution..

if you plan to load the boot and go up near that max nose weight then you might not like the way your disco sits on the road when driving so maybe assists could change that however they make for a different drive solo

and watch out for the caravan's noseweight.. I find the van tows better with a heavier nose but the mfrs recomended max noseweight on my van is only 75kg.. probably no real reason for this other than to fill in a box on a form but if plod or dvls decided to do a spot check and I was over that I could get a nasty slap on the wrist if I went over..

having said that I don't weight it... I go on the basis if I can lift the nose it aint too heavy...

Hi there, you should be fine in std trim with uplifted tyre pressures on the back, go up to about 40psi.

Last saturday I towed 3 tons with ours for about 400kms without the merest hint of a problem.
