Hi all!

I have to replace the torquatrol viscous coupling as my engine is running hot when I am using lower gears in city or mountains. Do you have experience with this operation? Cost? Recommended procedure? What about the parts involved with reference (would be so useful!!)? Thank you for your help.

Do you mean the viscous coupling in the transfer box? That won't cause the engine to overheat? But the viscous cooling fan will, if it's past it's best. Car and proper terminology would help.

You are right! Here it goes:

Range Rover 2.5 DT
P38 of November 1997

I have problem with the cooling fan. I have the feeling the viscous drive is on the fan?? What about the replacement procedure?

Thank you for your replies and help!!

Take yer chassis number off a public forum.....

This is the viscous fan coupling and fan....

Viscous Coupling & Fan Assembly P38 2.5TD BMW PGG101290 G Island 4x4 - Specialists in Land Rover and Range Rover Parts and accessories for all models. UK and worldwide mail order.

Will take 10 minutes to do, dead simple.....undo the nut, remove, replace....you may need to take the cowling off to make it easier to get the fan out!

Island4x4 are one of the best on price and delivery that we have found.....(no affiliation)

Undo both top hoses from radiator place them out of way. No need to remove them from engine. Remove two clips one each side of radiator cowling. Undo fan nut, use 32 mm spanner and shock with hammer in a clockwise direction. Or use fan removal tooling. Carefully undo fan keeping hold of it as it comes off thread. Remove fan and cowling at same time. Refit new fan and cowling together and secure fan. Shock in anticlockwise direction. Relocate cowl on bottom mounts and refit clips. Run engine and top up coolant.
