I have had a draper socket set for years and its come in really handy but now the blown plastic case is beyond repair and so I am looking for a toolchest.

I am not a hard core mechanic like a lot of you guys so I dont need snap on tools etc but I was just wondering what you might recommend as a decent(ish) tool chest?

There is a Clarke one on ebay with quite a few tools as well and it looks like good value - are thye OK for a basic home workshop?

Only need enough tools of sufficent quality to keep the landy going (and my kids motorbikes) going!!

halfrauds are doing a (cheap) 235 pice toolkit on a 2drawer case for £50. Its not a bad deal - when the bits break, replace em with good stuff and it gives ya a nice metal box to put ya stuff in.

Well I went to Halfords and bought the cheap toolbox and tools. The quality of the tools isnt great but the box was OK. I also bought another 3 drawer tool box and have transferred all my Draper sockets from the damaged box. While I was at it I dug out my old box of sockets and cleaned up a load of sockets I haven't used for years.

So now I have 2 steel toolboxes with a complete set of basic tools in one and a load of other sockets and spanners etc in the other.

Still havent got the 32mm spanner I need to drop the gearbox oil though!!

I went for the Halfrauds Pro Range Tool Chest and tools. Guaranteed for life, if you bust them, they replace them.
The Ratchet Spanners are good too.

Keep hold of your receipt though as they are now not exchanging tools in some stores without the receipt. Quite impressive as the tools are all stamped with Halfords.:rolleyes:

The amount I use them it will be a few years before I break them!! Although that might all change if the house sells and we get the one with the double garage and workshop!!
