Spoken to a mechanic friend and he says one of his friends has Goodridge on his racing Healey so that sounds positive. He says they've got a thin Teflon coating inside rather than rubber if the braid gets damaged it can puncture it.

The hel ones are stainless steel so shouldn’t rot as quick for the price I was thinking they would see me and the motor out

Only the braid is stainless, the pipe is the standard rubber/plastic stuff.
The outer braid is stainless steel. The inner pipe is PTFE Teflon.
The point of the stainless braid is to stop pressure causing the pipe to expand.
The whole thing is therefore thinner than the equivalent rubber hose & has a nicer cosmetic appearance.
BUT with the rubber hose it's easy to see any cracks during routine maintenance.
With the s/s that's impossible & your first indication that something's wrong is either visible leaking of fluid through the braid or brake failure - in both cases the inner hose has perforated.
You can buy kits to make up your own s/s covered ones (see youtube & there's some DIY horrors) & as they've already been mentioned on this thread this is one of Hel's showing how their ready-to-fit hoses are made. Can't say the cut crushing the end of the pipe then crushing it again to open it up to get the fittings in before crimping with a crimping machine increases my desire to rush out & buy some.
Although they & others must have made millions of the things & failures as a result of the build process are presumably rare.
