I'm starting to look around for ideas of what should come next after my Series can no longer cope with the long journey's to fun places to lane (Not keen on towing him everywhere either)

I'm in no rush, but, came across this:

Tomcat Motorsport - For Sale

Which i like the look of, especially with the rag top. I'd want to add soft door tops to make it usable in non-competitions, but, generally, like the idea of...

But, on the basis that the engine would need fully water proofing amongst other things, is it just paying a lot of money for a bit of fibre glass?!

If you can afford it and want it, it's worth it.

I can imagine grinning like a lunatic driving that in anger:crazy_driver:

I imagine so... would be nice to have something i can compete in!

Not too sure yet though, just starting to look for ideas, got at least another 8 months left in the Series and expect i could get it through another MOT without much work, so, it's not a major need at present.

build a whitbread 88 inch motor can compete in ALL diciplins then and have an ok motor to drive to the shops should you ever need to.

I was looking at the Whitbread 100" one, but, couldn't find out if it was road legal or not from their site?

I guess as the 88" ones can take series doors and are just a frame you can make them road legal?

Is it a Q plate job?

My mates selling a tomcat if you want one, I'd love a comp safari racer looking at my bare disco chassis in the garden and thinking about it haha there's a few brands out there

QT bought the tomcat brand,

100 inch better for comp and can be made road legal take their own doors somes in as te deal. but I'd go for a disco chassis cos its way lighter than a fender one cut down to 92 inches and use that as a comp safari/trials motor that way you get half a chance trialling and can compete in comp safari!

Many people keep the disco/rrc reg and say its been professionally rebodied if left at 100 inch receipt for work done by xx usually is enough its not stolen or a ringer if you hand them a complete chassis with vin and a logbook in your name.

IF you can send me some details that would be good...

as soon as yu cut the chassis its a Q plate & subject to an IVA

If it legally is required to be a Q then that's fine... not against Q plates.

The 100" option may be easier as i can just get a dead 300tdi and strip it then re-build it...?

Although i do like my 88" series for size... hmm.

Thank you, definetly some food for thought there.

Yeah ill get something together, I can remeber that its a 3.9 performance engine, 88" I think, remote resovoit shocks, auto box, almost finished needs a little assembling and finishing off. It's one of the earlier ones and I think drew bowler might have been interested in it but ill let you know :)

Cool... initial idea on price would probably do then i'll know if i can be interested or not!

Half finished project is no problem at all though :D

What happened to the lightweight?! :D

Ahh... still considering one of them - but, that would be a shiny classic... not an off-road machine!

I've apparently got to go and ask the neighbour before I buy more cars though  (I park 2 cars on his land currently and would park more there...)

Missus also wants me to go and find a local large field with barns to rent for me to keep cars in... I questioned why we needed the field as well... apparently if i get more cars she gets horses. :/
