to buy or not to buy

Hi new to this

Looking at buying a 2.25 diesel series 3 but here mixed reviews with regards to driving comfort and speed mpg etc

Im really just looking for a bit of fun some off roading and a bit of a work horse

Any info or advice on owning a series 3 greatly appreciated

that tick's all the boxes then go for it when i got mine the big smile wos on my face for weeks

Do it u won't regret it biggest mistake of my life selling mine buy it there not a range rover but not really that uncomfy mine did about 50ish you won't look back if u do get it mate

Just of interest how much is the road tax for the diesel

Yes

If it got a proper mot then the chassis should be at least fair. Remember; anything within 30 cm of a prescribed area is a fail.

Only means the tester thinks it's got another year in it

got a series diesel thinkin it was a s3 but after digging and enquiring it was actually a series 2 with a few upgrades over the years ( its 1961 tax exempt )

as foor comfort if yer dont mind a few joults a bi of bouncing and can live without power steering then go fer it ( me right arm is now almost as thick as most peoples legs now coz of this )

theres no compooter shyte to complicate things when it fooks up ( just 4 pots 8 valves and a fool pump ) all bloody simple clockwork

as fer workhorse mine has happilt pulled a 4 tonne truck out of the main road when that broke down and a tree stump clean out of the ground when i got ****ed off tidying up me front garden earlier this week ( gorra love that low ratio box )

not the fastest thing in the world not the quietest certainly not the easiest to get used to driving but i love it and wouldnt have it any other way

Mine passed it's MOT with an advisory of 'Entire chassis corroded' so...

Rangie diffs will bring a 2 1/4 up to decent speed (on the flat at least) or an overdrive will do the same with a little better fuel economy, having that extra between gears and over 4th make a world of difference.

Fantastic workhorse and will take all sorts of abuse without breaking anything that isn't easily fixable and will tow anything you like so long as your not in a hurry.

Not the comfiest of rides but parabolics help a lot if it bothers you and with enough sound insulation the noise levels can be got almost as low as the pain threshold

Can hold it's own off-road and parts are readily available.

It will at least hold it's value, probably increase so long as you don't destroy it. Downside of this is major components like gearboxes that aren't available off the shelf are also getting more expensive. Despite what anyone says the brakes are up to the job when set up properly and just need adjusting more regularily than these new fangled disc things (they'll never catch on)

Power steering is for gurls

I've driven nothing but Series Landys for the last 7 years. They freeze/soak/cook me......sometimes all at once but they're silly grin motoring at its best
