Tinkering with my Vogue

Stu, we can use the LT77 I have, its not the worlds best box BUT it is all there, should be fine for a trialler.

I got an LT77 in the workshop. Problem is the clutch and flywheel is 10 1/2" and won't fit a LT77 so either need a 9 1/2" clutch and flywheel or a LT95 gearbox.

It's for a CZ.22 rimfire and accurate as it has a Simmons 3-10 x50 but wanting something with parallax adjustment hitting 8mm target at 50 yds but not happy with the scope might try my cheapy 6-24 x 50 cheapy see if it hold a zero doubtful tho it was awfully cheap.

Stu can re drill flywheel however you'd be better off using an sd1 flywheel much lighter quicker to raise the revs when you stamp no need for a rangy flywheel a ccv motor isn't pushing 2 tonnes around and a decent v8 should be grand.

Lt77 or 4 speed either or I must say prefer the 4 speed can be rebuilt easier and much much stronger. The ultimate is the 4 speed with 101 bell-housing and input shaft and a series transfer box Andy is threatening to make an adapter plate for this but we shall have to see what happens. Also I will try and fit a 4 speed 95 hand brake assy to a series box not looked into it could be completely different or a right pain to adapt however the smaller drum doesn't hang down so far.

Few bits of tinkering today. Helped Killajoules out with his landy.



New brake shoes and springs all around.

He seemed to have that under control so I decided to strip the back brakes down as I need new disc's, well 1 new disc.





All caused by a missing pad



So, as you can see I got the disc's off. Eventually.

Firstly the brake hose decided to stick to the union.



But that's okay as it's having new pipes anyway.

With that out of the way I took the hub off.



Easy bit done, so much faster with the air gun

Time to break out a new tool.



Hmm hub nut is a bit tight, and with the holes at the end I couldn't get any pressure on. Modification time



Still no good, hmm maybe, yes that will do



With that side done and the bearings looking good I started the other side.

So first take the half shaft out



Bollocks

Who put that wall there

Never mind

OFF WITH THE AXEL



All done

Quick tip for you all.

To get a disc off a hub loosely bolt it onto a wheel





Then simply knock the disc off with a drift through the wheel





Right Ebay time

Well that's £87 spent on the brakes

Nearly forgot, my other new addition to the workshop. Mag tray



Not going to work when the wings go back on though.

Ye slowly but surely. Did you say you had a set of rear trailing arms? As the axel is off I am going to swap them. Will take the set off the SE chassis if I can't find some before the axel goes back under.

Thanks, I keep looking back just to see how far I have come at times, I have to say that it scares me.

Brake parts dispatched, £11.75 refund in postage Happy days

I took a chance on the weather and decided to strip what was left on the se chassis. No photies I'm afraid was wanted to get done before any rain fell.

This is what I'm left with now



All because I need the trailing arms. Anyway, with the butchery done I opened my box of shiny things



Add that to what I bought on the way in



So I cleaned off and painted the axel





I did the same to the trailing and the spring holder's





That was about it for today. Be back up tomorrow to hopefully refit the axel. With a little help.

Only a brief window of time, but we got the new disks onto the hubs then fitted them to the axle, finally adding half shafts and calipers

Shame about the back plates.

They are to far gone to be worth spending the time on cleaning and painting so will fit new ones but they are not at the top of the list to spend on. And they can be changed at any point.

I was thinking about that as it will primarily an off road toy and don't want them filling with mud. May do that before refitting, they were useful to sit the axle on when painting though.

I've chucked them on a couple of cars with no problems and several have done it on L322's as they rust like feck, easy to cut off but a bugger to replace.

Looks like 2 bolts on each and they are off. Will have a better look when I am at the workshop again

I took the back ones off today, 5 out of the 6 bolts undid. Bit of paint where they were and looks good. Didn't take a pic but the plan is to spend most of Saturday working on the beast and hopefully finish the brakes and even get the fuel tank in.
