Can anyone recommend a good reliable garage in the tynside/northumberland area to change the timing belt on my 97 300tdi. It has done 66k and i beleive they are due at 60k?. how much should i expect to pay?
thanks for any info

although land rover reccommend 60k miles the general opinion is that 48k is safer. belts have been known to break between 48 and 60k.
so get yours done urgently, if it aint been done.

also make sure the upgrade is done, the 300 had a problem with belts slipping off and rubbing on the casing.

if its not too far for you try Auto Services in Durham.

they're a 4x4 specialist, and have just done a load of work on my 98 Disco :) cant recommend them enough if their work is as good as their customer service ( find out tonight when they drop mine off having had loads of the fuel system replaced. ) Seem very clued up on Discovery's from what i can tell, having spoke to the guy for half hour on the phone i was very impressed.
they operate a free pick up and drop off service but you might be a bit far away for that :)

I was quoted £150+vat for a timing belt change by my local(leeds)landrover specialist.
Seemed cheap enough for the peace of mind.
