Tigerseal VS Sicaflex (Best water proofer or mods to protect electrics etc.)

Evening all,
So after going to Slindon Off Road Event on Monday its got me thinking. Having to sort a few bits on my TD5 disco 2, mainly winch electrics in the control box. What waterproofing have people been using for all there electrics, ecu etc. I've always used Tigerseal by my friend prefers Sicaflex. What are people's opinions for sealing your cars and bits up to stop any faults and leaks. Or even mods you have done.

Ive used sikaflex for years on boats after a while you can pull it free, salt water may be the issue.

I prefer ct1 as it works in the wet.

See a lot of sikaflex used on caravans. They leak......
If Tigerseal has always worked well for you then stick with it.

Looks like really good stuff and strong, great that it works under water as well, that's pretty impressive!

That is very true, oh yes I love the stuff always worked well I was just interested in what everyone was using or had done.

I used Sikaflex to seal me sunroofs about four years ago and they've not leaked yet so maybe it was the salt water.

On my boats I have usually treated connections with BoeShield T9 or Fluid Film. Both of these are basically wax dissolved in a solvent which evaporates away to leave a film. Don't know if these are in the UK but maybe something similar? Doesn't Sikaflex glue everything together?

In my experience making auto electrics out of the cabin waterproof is almost impossible.

If it's just to keep water out of removable connectors, then I use plumber's High Tack silicone grease. It's brilliant at keeping moisture out of connector pins on sensors and stuff. It's little use on an ECU multi-plug though.

Bet it does not work on Superseal plugs, nothing keeps water out of the Superseals!

Aren’t they the same thing !! Tigerseal is just a trade name for the same type of product I always thought. The place I always got TigerSeal from started giving me Sikaflex when I asked for TigerSeal and said it’s the same. It has always performed the same so I’m fine with it. It’s Sika who make the stuff Toolstation do. I think it’s Everbuild it’s called.

I used Sikafix on Boats for years and as long as you clean the substrate properly the stuff won't come off or leak, its pretty strong adhesive too, takes the skin off Fibreglass when you try and get it off if your not careful
