I need to replace my throttle position sensor. The part no shown on it is Lucas 84925A for a 213SA ECU. As you can see from the piccy it has two screw holes. Every other one I can find (including on Microcat) has elongated holes so it can be adjusted. It is for a MY95 3.9 Disco.

Can anybody enlighten me please? Are they interchangeable?

AFAIK the throttle pots are interchangeable. The older ones with elongated holes were for calibrating the closed throttle voltage. The later ones are "self calibrating" but if they go out of range you can open the holes out with a round needle file so you can calibrate it. As long as the throttle pot scales smoothly you shouldn't need to replace it.

I think throttle closed needs to be 0.30v and WOT about 4.90v - 5.0v. HTH.

BTW I think part numbers are ETC8495 or ERR2263, only difference I can see is the connector plug so do a search and see which one looks like yours.

RRC item has elongated holes and when fitted were adjusted by voltage readings. When fitted to the disco the holes became round so no manual adjustment available or required.

Indeed, that was the theory. As far as I have seen the throttle pot was changed for the 3.9 but it is useful to open out the round holes slightly. I recently had to do this with my 3.9, it was not idling and started to show the EFI warning light. After a couple of checks I found the throttle pot voltage was too low so the ECU wasn't stabilising the idle speed. A small adjustment and all is well. Anyway, the O.P. has busted wires so definitely a new one needed.
