Hi all.

My 2004 Defender TD5 won’t start, the throttle body air flap is shut the vacuum system is holding it shut. I have disconnected vacuum pipe, it runs but black smoke and diesel knock. Blanked EGR, runs better, no black smoke but blue smoke and diesel knock. May be injecting to much fuel? Oil Level Ok. Coolant Level Ok. MAP and MAF have been cleaned.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

The throttle body air flap is only there to help the EGR system work.
Open it and wire it open, so the engine can breathe.

Make sure all the boost pipes are free of holes and splits, and the clamps are tight.
