Like many D2s I have the infamous three amigos, however I have the code from the ABS system is 115, which is irritating as when I try an look it up the last one is 114. (I checked it here Disco II ABS Faults) so does any one know what code 115 is? I can clear it but it annoyingly returns. I have a suspicion it may be shuttle valve related as 113 and 114 are although that no guarentee!

Hi,
Had a look at your link which is to an American site. Do you have a V8 D2? If you have a TD5 then they are not suposed to be OBD11 compliant.

I have a V8 as in my sig! and am using an Autocom CDP+. I cant see the TD5 having a diffrent ABS system to a V8 however

The WABCO D ABS system on D2s is the same regardless of engine type, though if that multivehicle tester doesnt give you clear code description you better read the codes with a dedicated one but if all the 3 amigos are going off together after ignition cycle then they come back randomly it's almolst sure it's SVS related
 
Reading up on the WABCO D ABS system it seems there is also a method of extracting blink codes from it, in a similar fashion as the classic ABS system. However that required the used of a switch which like the classic system is not fitted. Any ideas what pin this would be on? as there are a lot of lists to decode the blink codes, none for the DTCs from this system (apart from the american site I linked to!)

I've studied well the WABCO D system with D2 setup and i've never heard about such thing, maybe it's possible with the P38 variant where it's a different kind of ECU, i dont think that the D2s SLABS can manage that blink code procedure... afaik it's valable only for WABCO C system, if you dont have the chance to plug in a dedicated tester and the 3 amigos are as you said intermittent and resetting on ignition when the 3 amigos are on drive it so to need TC and ABS and observe the behaviour cos the default mode for SVS failure will let the ABS work with increased deceleration treshold but the TC will be disabled if yo see what i mean, you have the default modes attached and maybe you can figure out the fault based on the braking system action with the 3 amigos on(my money is on SVS fault though cos the other's are rarely intermittent)

IMO there are more versions of WABCO D too but the manufacturer will never give complete info, also as in the link you've posted it's about a system used for trucks, tractors and buses not for cars, the modulator is completely different than the ones used for cars and it doesnt even have shuttle valve switches, the document i've studied doesnt mention anything about blink code test only electronic diagnostic on K line, see the attached document cos that's what we have not that "meritor" WABCO which is different, on tractors. trucks and buses the ABS system has separate diagnostic link for ABS with that J1922 or J1939 interface while the car version works through OBD J1962 interface

IMO you better rest your neurons about that blink test on SLABS cos i dont think it's possible and better get it plugged in a proper tester, even multivehicle testers can read them properly but not that so cheap chinese clones like Autocom, see attachment how a serious multivehicle tester must work on it

Anyone want some parts from a 1999 disco V8, because I will break it before I let someone charge me for plugging a laptop into it. All I want is a list of codes telling me what 115 is! and this fault does put it off the road as it wont pass the MOT
 
Why should I? so far all I have seen of the T4 is muppets twiddling around doing nothing and then charge the earth to say nothing useful and then getting better info from an ELM dongle with my own code
 
IMO that 115 is not a fault code, it's a kinda order number of the code as those 1, 3, 5 numbers are in front of the code desription on the ucandas tester... i've had an autocom some time ago and it gave the fault description maybe you should update yours if you can
 
Don't know where you are but here there is a local place that will read fault codes and report back for £35

I invested in my own Nanocom Evo under a group buy on this forum, can't remember how much it was but was well under £300.

Have loaned it to members here to use and if I sell the Discovery would get most of that cash back.

I know, it was your recommendation that caused me to buy the autocom! actually its been very good so far and has been a lot of help. It just says '115 unknown code' however it does think the petrol disco has a 1.8 K(ettle) series
 
i remember that i used it for test on my D2 and got ABS sensor fault, maybe it doesnt see the shuttle valve fault cos the "classic" ABS even if it's wabco D doesnt have shuttle valves listed, try to access the ABS module from the same discovery section but from a 2003 version even i your's is '99 it must see the module cos they are almost the same... now i'm more convonced that it's a SVS fault then... do the wiring mod option B cos it will not hurt anyway
 
by the way try by selecting Td5 D2 cos the engine doesnt matter maybe the ABS database it's better for that one being more common...i feel guilty now for the Autocom thing but as you wanted cheap it was the best option for that price believe me... that UCANDAS which i took the screenshot from is 200quid

No need to feel guilty, it's been very helpful in many ways till now! But this is frustrating. It does believe in shuttle valves as it tell me the switches are open (or closed, but it did report their current position) I did find one parameter that is 0115 which is interesting. Currently the amigos are quiet. When I first plugged the autocom in it reported faults with all the ABS sensors, all 4 signals being low and the one I unplugged as not connected in addition to it being low. The 115 code was not there, nor anything relating to the SV.

The 115 code can reappear without driving the car which may also be interesting

So far on this one I've had to rebuild the engine and conduct significant surgery on the chassis rear of the back axle. I also have the front wheel bearings to replace so this is being irritating to say the least

this kind of 'unknnown' faults for generic readers can be caused by bad earths so check those earths behind the airbox, on the wheelarch and at the bottom of the modulator...they are shown in one of these links of yours
