Was in my local halfrauds picking up an emergency bottle of colour magic, as I walked down the aisle, I saw that Haynes have released a manual for the freelander 2.

With my interest awakened, I went for a closer look, as I had been told by Haynes that they had no plans to publish a manual for the freelander 2.

Then to my horror, shock and general aghastness, it was a bloody paperback !

Haynes manuals by tradition have to be hardback surely ?

The haynes focus has changed a little in line with expectations of what people do to their cars now, I recently got a manual for the Vivaro and under gearbox, apart from connecting cables and whatnot it just says that if faulty, get an exchange unit. No pictures of cogs and stuff!

A lot of Haynes motorbike manuals are paperback, especially the Italian bikes so you can fold it up under the seat for the daily roadside repairs.

I bought a manual from Halfords for my 200tdi 110 a few months ago, and not only is it paperback which I think is just a bit naff, it was certainly no cheaper than any hardback manual I've bought in the past. What I really find annoying though is that it's not exactly specific for any model. The manual covers - 2.5n/a, 2.5td , 200tdi, 300tdi, and TD5! The same fecking manual! So when you want to find out a specification for something, or look at how to fix a part, you have to leaf through pages and pages before settling on your exact model, and the corresponding images.

What yu complaining about?

You only had to payonce to cover all the possible models you might own

Most haynes manuals are going that way

I was also there today and was more shocked by "spray on snow chains" i thought that was an internet myth but they actually sell them

Mad hat man that's very true, but I'd rather quality than quantity, especially when it's 20 quid. Besides, who needs a haynes manual, when you've got landy forums
