Over the last couple of months my fuel consumption has risen.

I am getting about 40 miles per tank less, it did improve slightly with a remap, and the local dealers suggest wait for better weather and see if it gets better.

Is 40 miles about right for similar driving techniques and trips for winter driving, or is there anything else to check.

Note, brakes not binding, no fault codes, oil level OK.

Did it get worse, then you had a remap done and it improved but it is still worse than it was , or has it gotten worse after the remap was done? Or did you have the remap done it was OK then it got worse with nothing changing? Because I do not really understand what you have written in terms of chronological order.

Do you have actual MPG figures to relate back to?

I always understood that winter fuel gave a slight reduction in MOG , but TBH I have never checked the figures I get to find out.

Early Dec started to get worse, about 40-60 miles less per tank.

Remapped (late Dec) inproved by a little

Now at 40 less per tank about.

So got worse before remap
 
How are you measuring the difference?
What other changes have you made to the vehicle, tyres, additional loading, etc.?
Assuming a starting or base figure of 30 mpg. A full tank of 21 gallons would take you 630 miles.
reducing that by say 50 miles to 580 would mean a reduction to 27.6 mpg. Not a great difference in the grand scheme of things.
That kind of reduction can be caused by no end of everyday happenings, even dare I say, a slight almost imperceptible change in driving style. Now that you've had it remapped, you can drive it a little bit more like a car and less like a truck.
 
I think unless you have actual MPG data, then any other measurement is a bit useless.

I have yet to find a way to correlate the movement of my fuel gauge into a real world fuel usage on either of my landies.

The map on it was overfueling at top end, new map is torquier and less overfueling
 
interested if you get to the bottom of this as my landmark 04 is returning 17 to the gal around town :(:(:(:(

Just a thought, as brian said, 40 miles off a tankful isnt a huge amount, have you checked tyre pressures? In colder weather it will drop slightly and could cause higher fuel consumption. A long shot maybe but pump em up a bit and see if it makes a difference.

One was soft, but looked fine!
