Yes we re-routed the header tank feed hose so that it connects the main circuit BEFORE the pump, so that it's being "sucked on" rather than "blown into." Ahem.
But this makes total sense as the mechanical pump is downstream of the inlet on the old system, so I think we have now cracked this mod. If I don't report back with it in time, assume it's working swimmingly
!
Now I just have to sort out that FECKING TAILGATE SENOR!!!

Not a bad idea but no bugger would buy it I fear. Plus the installation of the 'lectrics is a tad involved, so perhaps best fitted professionally. I can highly reccomend the services of Diesel Do however

The wiring itself is very simple - just a few plugs really, it's just getting them through from the engine bay and then behind the dashboard which is a bit tricky and requires a bit of finesse I think. But not out of the reach of a competant DIY owner.
The RRP for the pump and controller + all accessories was £270 ish. Also needed some heather hose, a modular T connector and a few hose clips.

Honestly I don't remember but if you did well done as you were right .
So far the whole thing looks sweet, not a peep out of the system and the level is holding. It's just a shame that it's probably a bit too pricey for most to try - especially if you aren't going to keep the car for a few years. But I'm pretty confident that HGF will be highky unlikely now, which should mean this will be a good runner for years.

No you're right, I'm definitely not viewing this as a panacea - once I've done 50k trouble free in it I might make such a claim but not yet.
one thing i've learnt from mine is never to be complacent!you have done a good and thorough job........just keep checking

The only issue we had with the wiring in the kit was working out how to route it around the back of the dash - there's no need for any extra wiring it would just be nice to have a larger hole in the Freelander's firewall as the end of the wiring harness has a fecking great plug on it! DD had to cut the wires, pass them through and then solder them back together. More of an issue with the car, rather than the kit itself. But selling a Freelander-freindly kit with the necessary plumbing would definitely be a good idea. Lots of K series FL's out there now but £270 is probably a quarter of what they're worth - so only a hardcore petrol FL enthusiast or someone who has had one for years and wants to increase its useful life would buy one.
I know that Mad Hat Man has been advocating the use of these pumps for many years here, but as far as I know I'm the only one - at least on this forum - to fit one.
BUT - it is much cheaper than a HGF job, and for peace of mind on an ageing K series it could find a nice little niche.

which plug is that one then, Will, as the bulkhead is a problem easily resolved.

Its a multi-pin connector that plugs into the top of the controller - about 25mm x 4mm in profile - too big to fit through the existing wiring holes in the bulkhead.
