Was on a little adventure over here today and came across a defender 90 300tdi with 168,000 miles truck back, she's £2000 but bulkhead and chassis need work like outriggers and possible rear crossmember but I'll post pictures up on Monday as I'm going back to look at it. Might low ball him with £1500 lol

Not many for sale round here at that price but one thing other than rocker cover gasket leaking slightly the engine is mighty clean

Nobody else will want it will be a good one

A friends next door neighbour had a B reg 90 2.5 petrol LPG

very clean but needed an outrigger for the MOT, spent months trying to sell it for £2000
Eventually he sold it to a dealer for £1100

Right bargain that was

Add £1000 to your buying limit will make a huge difference,
Nobody sells a defender for less than 2000 unless its beyond repair or he is clueless(that's rare) but it happens. :tea:

Quick look over this needs an outrigger and some bulkhead work but that's cheaply sorted ill be having a better look on Monday, should have a total of 3.5k to buy it and fix it up with in sure 1.5k will sort chassis and bulkhead work? Engine has 168,000 miles but looks genuine enough but I'll get pictures taken on Monday and throw them up here for kore opinions on weither it is worth the money or just to avoid :) it is a truck back so I'm debating weither they are a good sell on point after she's been fixed up possibly with a respray too but we'll see if the budget allows it

i've decided against the land rover i was looking at, the chassis was like a patchwork quilt, although it was a honest landy it just was not financially viable to but in the amount of work it needed to make it to a sell-able standard which for me was a no no. Bulkhead was completely gone, needed two new floors, two new outriggers, two rear out riggers, new shocks, springs, and just infront of the rear crossmember there where precarious looking patches. But after the winter i will know where to go to get a solid bulkhead from for £200

He was willing to sell it for £2000 with 5 freestyle alloys but im sure when i get round to buying one with a better chassis, ill negotiate a deal with him for a bulkhead wheels etc if and when i need them.

In that state £1000 would be about it, assuming the engine and gearbox were OK.
You could easily spend another 2K to get it back to a serviceable standard - new chassis, your £200 bulkhead, I bet the wirings knackered, and so on.

Certainly need to have a good feel about if buying one, check the chassis carefully for rot. Check rail tops too! amazing what can be lurking once you take a seemingly 'good one' apart!

Yeah I know she was like a patchwork quilt on the chassis to be fair even with a recassis and fixing interior etc it wouldn't be worth it, seller was a garage so getting him down from 2k was a mission in itself, i was shocked when I said about 5 rims in for same price and he agreed. But it's to far gone to fix and turn a profit on
