Hi all, well as the title says really. iTs a 1996 (p) 300 disco manual.
After 15-20 mins driving it make a strange sound when letting the clutch back out in 1st,2nd,3rd. It sounds as thou there is a broken flexi on the exhaust and its twanging on the transmission tunnel. I know it can't be that as I have a de-cat down pipe fitted, with no flexi on it. Also it can be a git to get it in and out of first, and hard to get it into second. Feels as thou the clutch isn't depressed enough. I've checked to make sure the foot mat isn't catching the clutch pedal, and it's not. Any ideas guys, or am I looking at a new clutch.

Not been getting a stiffness in the clutch pedal, and there is no fluid loss from the clutch master/slave cylinders

It could be the clutch lever beginning to go through causing your gear select problem, and the noise your hearing, but I could be wrong

Shouldn't be as its had a renforced one fitted however i'm not going to rule anything out. Surpose if push comes to shove, I could always renew that aswell as the clutch

Took the car out this morning 21miles to school and back. Fine on the way there, but about 3/4 the way back it make the strange twanging sound again in second at low revs. Also when changing out of second to go into first there was a loud metallic clunk, only did it once today. Did it yesterday aswell, but that was when I shut the engine down. There is also a vib when the car is warmed up, which also links to the sound

could be the clutcg cover plate SPRINGS failing, this doesnt often happen, although the friction plate springs can get slack and/or the friction plate centre can fail all of a sudden.

might be wise to drive it to the garage whilst you still can?! :D

Well looks like its coming back off the road once again lol. going to strip it down this week to take alook. I've had the friction plate center split in two on my last disco, and while the other clutch didn't make this sound, its not say its not the same thing. May aswell get the gearbox looked at at the same time.

Had it making the same sound without driving today, hold it around 1800 rpms and it will do it. Strange thing is that it now looks as thou my turbo seals are about to go, its smoking out a fair bit of blue smoke, which doesn't clear, and also feels as thou it has a miss fire.

Ok so dragged my fat ar5e under my disco today. Found the worst of the rattle, which turned out to be two lose exhaust hanger brackets. So nearly quiet, althou I can still hear a small whine from the gearbox, and a little rattle from it aswell.
