A friend and I did our 1st greenlaning today since purchasing our 90`s, in Thetford.
With the kind insights of Breckland 4x4 club before we set of and a good map we had a good day. The trails were popular with trail bikes, quads and ramblers (who were the least friendly ), and even a couple of horses/riders. Scenery is nice, saw a couple of deer.
Ranging from (boring) flat, loose gravel tracks to more undulating ruts and then some more seriously large ruts and changing terrain with a bit of mud
here and there, yes even after this long dry spell!, it was a good first outing. :D
I even struggled to get out of the most gnarly deeeeep set of mud potholes! needing several attempts (with my mate saying `your wheels off the ground, its wheelspinning, the tyre is rubbing the top of the wheel arch, you won`t get out of there`- he`s hoping he will get a chance to use his new tow ropes of course ;) And I did get out with diff lock :p.
I think you could do it all in a day and to repeat it would be boring, but still a very good 1st session and the 90 passed with flying colours.
Would post pics but dont know how.

Hi mate, do you know anywhere else in norfolk that is good for greenlaning? I heard peddars way is good and also you know anywhere where you can off-road in norfolk?

Hi kiwi
We`ve just bought more maps, including Peddars Way and North Norfolk.
Peddars Way may be a non starter due to the powers that be, but will check it out and post here either way.
Wild Tracks is a small, purpose built facility for go karts, bikes and 4x4`s. £25 inc jet wash.

By the time you`ve unpacked it from that HUGE box of gear, I`ll be out and away bud.
How do we post pics Si? The few we did take would be appreciated it seems ;)

Chico929 - some photos from Sunday....

Shame about the Liverpool FC flag on your bonet - I'm a fan but not too sure how long that will last in Norfolk....

Hi i live 2 mins away from wild track's been up there in my non road legal frontera but would like to take my p38 rangie round thetford forest, the pics you've took look good is it all open like that, as i'm not too keen on scratching it up. I do take it done some farm track's etc round here but dont really know where to go?

Hate to be the one to dig up a 2+ year old thread, but where abouts in Thetford did you go? I've been there frequently on my mountain bike (Brandon way) but have no idea where you can (legally) drive.

Have a search round the forum. Loads of info if you look for it.... ;)
But to get you started

Never been laning in thetford so keep us posted on your pics and make sure your driving where you are legally permitted to!

Thanks for that link. I did a bit of searching and manage to find this map of BOATs.

I've got an OS map at home, but this is far more useful to quickly find legal routes, to then mark up on a map later.

I'll post photos / video when I go
