The fitting of the tub is definitely a major moral boost. Wait till you fit the sides windscreen and roof, it's orgasmic. .
My next big step is masking up the footwell and engine bay and getting that sprayed. Then I can start getting the front end together.

Well i thought it should be time for an update.Not sure what happened to the previous photos, they wern't with photobucket, they were in my cloud. Anyway i'll pop a few up just for the time line.

Tub had all the bodywork hammered and filled then sprayed lacquered and fitted.
Same treatment for the seatbox and wings.

Time to start bolting it back together,

Got my rx8 seats in but not wired up yet,

Coming together now. Just the two front doors to repair and reskin. Had to replace the inside window channel as snapped in the usual place.Also the bottom of the frame.I got the repair sections from S&P4x4. few issues, hole in new back door for lock barrel not lining up so round file had to come out to be able to get plastic escution on. Also a shame the bottom rails for the front doors wernt a bit longer to enable repairing the rusty sides. Lucky for me i was able to cut some good steel from the bottom rail to replace the rusty sides. Now thats done i can remove the skin and fit the new one then get on with the passenger door

I'll get the other one done and skined before i start spraying, then its timing belt front grill then lights. Started put new led light kit on but the previous owner in his wisdom and while replacing broken lamps, cut off the female sockets off the loom and soldered the new lamps on. I could have done the same but decide to spend £40 odd on new plugs to repair the loom as standard.

Thanks for the offer steve , i think i can salvage enough to carry on. Its the skins that are quite dented.

First door skinned and hang, passenger to do then paint them both together.

All the faces that touch the skin i painted with a good coat of black rustolium. Will bond the skin on when fully dry. In the meantime im soldering new harness plugs on the loom to connect the leds.

Its just the ally skin. The packing was fine although a less careful courier would easily have dented the skins. They came with just one layer of cardboard, nothing to take the shock of any dings.

That’s the same as the panels I ordered from them last year. I hope that with a more expensive order, they may have taken a little more care.

Last bit of painting now. Both front doors and front panel in etch primer ready for base coat and lacquer. Lift come in handy today trying to adjust tub bracketry to lower the latch side of tub to get the lines right and reduce the gap at the top of the passenger door.

First time i had too much orange peel so went to flat and ploish them but went through in one spot so decided to flash another base coat on and re do the clear. Just got the second coat under way then ran out 3/4 of the way down a door. I got some more clear and although there was 3 inches of snow on the ground, the sun was very warm, and no bugs or wind. I got them up on the stands and gave them 5 good coats. Put them around the heater until touch dry and then brought them in the house. The missus is working tonight so no doubt there will be words in the morning when she gets home but, needs must.
