Hi all. :5bseeya:

After wanting a Defender for ages, we finally bit the bullet, and a few days ago took delivery of our first ever landy, the 'Green Meanie'.

It's a 1997 Defender 110 300tdi CSW, and I have plans...
I've taken out the rear bench seats and belts, and will be fitting a plywood/rubber load area and mid bulkhead so the dogs don't decide the passenger seats are better mud coloured. An alarm and central locking are waiting to be fitted, and a cubby to replace the silly middle front seat. A disklok (already got, and fitted) should make dodgey plebs look at the other landys near me and leave mine alone. The thirsty 300tdi will have an egr blank and a decat front pipe. I may yet add more soundproofing and new carpets front and middle. Black chequer on bonnet and wings, and along the sills.
We drove it back from its old home, and with the stories we've read on this and other forums were a little worried about how agricultural it would be. However, we were very pleasantly surprised. Not too loud, not too uncomfortable, and not too slow. I've been in worse petrol saloons than this!

I don't think we'll be off-roading much, it's really for hauling dogs and stuff around. I'm having fun getting oily!

<update> Just done the EGR mod, and removed the centre seat and belts and fitted a cubby. Alarm next... </update>

The bulkhead is clean and strong, a wiping of oil on the inner and heavily waxoyled on the underside. The chassis and underside are all waxoyled, and make reassuring resistance and noises when prodded and hammered.I know it's and ongoing process though.. :D
