I thought you all might be interested in this.

I took my daily "modern" to an old established independent garage the other day and happened to arrive at "morning cuppa" time and I was kindly offered one.
The conversation came round to penetrating oils as there were lots of WD40, Duff and others on the shelf.
I asked the joint proprietor which was the best in his opinion.
"None of them!".
His favourite is 50/50 "Three In One" oil and white vinegar mixed together.

I had never heard of that before.
Had you?

Cheap and worth a try.

Cheers

Never heard about the vinegar one , agree ref the plusgas

I heard of using candle wax years ago, by melting it into the seized bolts

Or ATF fluid and acetone

Still , when nothing works , there’s nothing like spending hours cutting a seized high tensile bolt , lol

ouch, painful matey and muscho's swearing and spanner throwing. This is the 'no-go' zone when i am working, kids and pets stay well clear as sometimes it has been known that spanners fly in that general direction supported with foul language,

Lol, ah what’s 5 x hours with an electric recip saw cutting through each bolt

Got to love a Land Rover

i fell alseep under my one once, so ****ed of trying to undo a bolt, my arms were killing me so i had a rest, woke up with the dog licking may face!

Plus I’m not saying this bolt was seized , lol,

but a 3 ton hydraulic puller wouldn’t push that bolt as I tried from both sides

Lmao, in the 25 x years of having landys I’ve never known bolts to have been that stubborn, alas no coppaslip was used at original installation, so they rust solid inside the metal bearing

how you get it out? threaten it with a trip to breaker sin slade green?

nearly, lol

had to use a recip saw , however I remember having a dremil with some metal cutting discs, which believe it or not really helped , as the bolt had to come out first before I used a puller set

Didn’t want to mess around with sockets etc , so got a set as I knew they would be handy for the rest , worked like a charm getting that out and pressed back in again

Few pics to make u cringe
