TD4 in bits. Back and forth to 'dodgey garage' since 14th August 2007. Had new master, slave, 2 part clutch kit and now they want dosh for a new flywheel. Is it possible for all of these things to go? Piggin thing. Only had it since March. No warranty. Bugger!:mad:

quite possible... depends how spectacually the clutch failed.

what milage has it done and how come no warrenty?

private sale??

also ask to see all old parts and if your a girly girl (no offence intended;) ) and dont know what the 4 main parts of a clutch are get help from someone who does.

were a **** takin bunch on here but will help gurls out!!

Thanks for that. Only done 49K. Think the fact that I swore at the mechanic may not have helped. Going to see the heap tomorrow as they have asked me to examine it. Err and exactly what am I looking at? So I am in a no win situation at moment.

flywheel is a round thick disk bolted to engine with a row of teeth round edge...

it should be smooth, like a brake disk.

also if you can, get a haynes manual and read up...

nowt like a clued up gurl in a garage!!!!

if they have replaced all the other parts, and not fixed it yet, they probably didn't need replacing, and you should ask for your money back, or at least a reduction. I know it sounds easy to tell someone to do that over t'interweb, but fact of the matter is, if you took it to the garage and said "fix the clutch", then it is down to them to diagnose and replace what is faulty.

but as andytd4auto said, depends how spectacularly the clutch failed.

Do you have any fast fit clutch centres like "mr clutch", as they might be able to offer some advice. They quoted £300 all in to change the clutch on roberth's td4, so might be worth a call.

is the garage giving you grief the one you bought it from ?

Following a major tantrum (girlies can get away with it without a smack in the chops). Mr Garage has agreed to do a very resaonable parts (no labour) price on the flywheel. The proof will be in the driving. So watch this space it may be ready tomorrow. Thanks Andy for Haynes Manual advive. Will write to Santa immediately. Lets hope he doesn't deliver his presents in a freelander otheriwse we are all s**t out of luck if he does!!!!

Hi. Found Hi Range after encountering problems. Very impressed with them and will head that way in future. Freelander is now back in my not so safe hands. Fingers crossed, touching wood and all that sort of stuff, we will see how she goes!?
