do you begrudge them the right to withdraw their labour ?

as far as i know slavery has been done away with in this country

Postmen are stoopid, fancy taking time off and having to work twice as hard for the next few weeks to clear the backlog. The are only mekking it worse for themselves and setting it up for an imigrant takeover of their jobs

i wouldn't deny anyone the right to withold there labour. Bit when your striking cause your employer has asked you to work all the hours your been paid to work that's out of order. Postoffice must be the only profession where job & knock is seen as a right and not a bonus

Yep first delivery on wednesday was 2 Machine Mart catalogues, 4 Furniture Direct Catalogues and a NIsbetts Catalogue.....all of em straight in the bin must have been 2lb of junk

I fink I heard one guy say " i was told I cud retire at 60 - now I will have to retire at 65 with a reduced pension".

so whats new - why shd the PO be exempt from world financial hiccups - most other folk have to work till 65 and will not have as good a pension as was envisaged 10 years ago.

we still aint had any post since the strike started - wonder how much is going to go "missing"?

that's just a one part of the bigger problem, the employers are using that as the headline issue

other than withdrawl of labout how else would you protest at the imposition of new contracts that mean more hours worked and less pay for those hours ? - unless the gov do actually want all posties to be non nationals on £3.75 an hour

wouldn't object to the odd day or 2, but a whole week's takin the **** a bit.

do you know why they're always hurrying along when they're delivering? (ours runs like e's doing a marathon, jumping over garden fences to save time going up all the drives/through gates ) - because as soon as they've finished their round, they can go home - regardless of how long it takes. - so if they're finished in 5 hours, they still get paid for 8 hours. AND if they then go back to work in the depot they get paid overtime for this even though its still within their normal 8 hours

I wouldn't mind gettin paid twice for doin the same job

My mate runs a small mail order business & he's virtually had to shut for 10 days - cost him a fortune

i agree that job and knock thing is an issue, even thou it's widely done, building works for example - but who would you resolve it?

i also have a company that has depended on the mail, but royal mail dont have a monopoly

our local postie has been one for 35 years and has been told he's gonna have to work another 5 years and then get a reduced pension - if they just accepted it ? ......... what next would the employers try on ?

Job and knock in the building game isn't that common anymore. mainly because everyone's either self employed or a subcontractor. It's mainly weekend ot jobs that get the job & knock treatment.

anyways the orginal posters only got himself to blame for not asking for his bits to be posted via someone else

whoever told you that is talking bollox.
it's illegal to change pension benefits in that way.
at most, the standard retirement age has been increased by 5 years (like thousands of other pension schemes) and if he chooses to retire early, he will, of course, get less pension than if he worked the extra 5 years. if he's already got 35 years accrued benefits, those can't be touched.

unless your just on an hourly rate being either a subby, self employed or on job n knock is a good incentive to work hard and get finished quick - at least now you can sorta rely on getting your post first thing ish and not whenever the postie can be arsed cos he's getting paid the shift anyways

perhaps these posties want a clocking in and out machine then it would be a fair days work for the actual hours they work then if there is a problem they could get paid for what they work my postie starts at 6am and should finish at 2pm has said before he can always finish by 12.30 so 1.30 x 5 =7.30 per week over paid those other hours could be used helping others as he still gets paid for them. its not quantum fizzicks"

he's only told me first hand what's allready been written about in numerous newspapers

NOT ROCKET SCIENCE

clocking in/out machines dont motivate people to work harder or faster - all people then do is do whatever they feel at whatever speed they want to work untill it's time to go home

motivation make people work harder and faster, that's why the job n knock methods have been used the world over

am assuming yer think rocket science is difficult by yer statement, when infact its very simple.
yer gert a tube or a pipe, put some burny stuff in it and ignite burny stuff. the resultant expanding hot gases rush out the end, and as every action has a equal and opposite reaction the tube/pipe goes in the opposite direction. dead fooking easy.
**** we even made one outta an old moped egghost

what yer should have sed was.." its not quantum fizzicks"
