Hi could someone tell me a easy way to check that the alarm system is working properly ? reason i ask is my p38 was broken into a few weeks ago and the alarm didnt seem to go off ! although they didnt actualy open any doors, just smashed 5 windows and pulled out everything they could.:mad::mad:

you have to press the lock button twice to enable the volumetric alarm! get in it, press the lock button twice and wait 30 secs, sit still! then after the 30 secs move about and it should sound the alarm!

Cheers for that you learn something new every day !

been trying to get my alarm to sound as i havent heard it yet and the indicators dont flash when arming the alarm??!! tried to double lock it while inside staying dead still and nothing, i was sorting my history for it the other day and found a service invoice from a few years ago from a main stealer where they serviced it and fixed a few minor things but also changed the becm!! might this be it when the installed the new becm they didnt set it all up or should it just be set from default? (sorry if this sounds stupid dont have any experience with rovacom or testbook). I need to have it plugged in soon to find out my hevac fault can tyhey have a look at this at the same time?

Many thanks, Tom.

Chance that they changed the BECM because of a lockout because Test Book or Autologic is unable to unlock a BECM, and the previous owner may have requested that the alarm/immobiliser function to be disabled. Rovacom, Autologic or Test book should be able to re-enable either or both them, though it may be worth while considering leaving the Immobiliser disabled to prevent future lockouts..it's your choice.

yeah sounds a good idea! the invoice said something about changing it due to full beam headlights being stuck on! sounds a bit extreme to me to be changing it due to that! it still has all the remote locking working so think i might leave it for now(if it aint broke.....!!!!) thanks for the advice.

oh, the immobiliser is still working i think, had it unable to start(engine disabled) to due to interfering frequencies with the remote a while ago before i had the rf changed.

double lock it, do the inicators flash 3 times? it may be that your not pressing the buttons fast enough, mine doesnt recognise the press sometimes!

you need to also make sure there are no messages regerding alarm or doors on the display or it wont activate!

My one doesn't make an audible sound, is it meant to? P38 97 DSE, everything seems to be working on it otherwise, lights flash 3 times on a double lock, and it will lock after about 30 secs, if i walk away and don't lock it, it will automaticley lock after a time etc, but i just don't get the audible locking sound, is there any other way to do this rather than go to the expense of hooking it up?

it doest advertise the alarm is on! it just does it, as far as i know the only way to test is to lock it whilst your in it and wait, then wave your arms to set it off!

i'm sure i read it either rave or range rovers.net

ive tested mine and it works so i know the method is correct!

well have tried playing around with the alarm and this is what ive found: double press arm button, no indicators or audio warning, sat inside double locked it and sat still for about 30 secs then heard an unlocking sort of sound?! doors still locked dash alarm indicator still flashing!

The only thing i can think of unless i have it plugged in is that your right irish and the alarm must be disabled. Im not to bothered as its locked away at night and at least it wont have any lockouts!!(I hope!!!!) Anyway i just thought i would let people know for reference, if its any use!!!
