hi guys
IRD question, lifted both rear wheels of the floor & turned one forward & the opposite side spun in reverse freely. There was no wobble or noise & spin freely.

Is this a good sign rear diff is ok.

When a transfer box fails is it a difunite the VCU is also goosed?

And lastly off to buy a second hand Ird for a £100, am I crazy, too trusting or hopefully finding a unicorn?

Thanks guys

The rear diff carrier is ok. You need to check the pinion turns the diff carrier correctly before proving the rear diff is fully functional.

The VCU is the most likely cause the IRD went bang in the first place, unless all the tyers were odd. So there's no point in replacing the IRD without making sure the VCU is either working correctly, or the tyres are all identical.
