Sport Temperamental EAS when putting the car into access mode

Whenever I have the car on park or have my foot on the brake pedal and select to lower the car into access mode, it'll not do it initially. Instead it'll begin to lower and then immediately shoot up into an extended mode. If I persist with trying to lower it into access mode after then it'll do it fine.

If I have the car driving slowly or in neutral with no foot on the brake pedal - it will go into access mode with no problems. It's not a major issue as I don't need to alter the height of the car, I was just making sure everything was working when I discovered it.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Might be worth checking the white connectors behind the kick panel at the bottom of the A post passenger side, they are well known for corrosion problems and can cause some strange anomalies.

My L322 lowers best without brakes applied also. I suspect the wheels need to rotate a little as the geometry of the car changes.

I thought AES went into stasis if the car thought a door was open OR you had your foot on the brake pedal?

Bingo.
It can happen on the D3/4 too, especially if the suspension bushes are updated.
As you said, the wheels need to rotate as the suspension drops. If they can't rotate, then the EAS module sees an unusual pressure change in the main gallery, with reference to the ride height, and assumes the bottom of the vehicle has grounded, so automatically selects the extended height.
