Had my '99 TD5 remapped by Mike @ dynachip yesterday, cost me £250 and came away with a completely different beast, huge difference in performance, no more sluggish disco, so much more responsive ! Even had the back end stepping out on her pulling off in the wet, havn't had a chance to check fuel consumption improvement yet as too busy putting the foot down and playing about but hopefully better MPG once my foot gets a bit lighter...

Well done Kev, told you it would make a difference!!!!

Once you've got over the initial pleasure zone of performance, the mpg will almost certainly be slightly better too.

Cheers Dave, was well impressed with the difference, had a fair bit of oil had come up through the wiring loom into the ECU, take it the seal has gone, is this a common thing Dave ? possibly another reason why was so sluggish at bottom end, surprised it wasn't missfiring with all that oil..
I let Mike know you'd be in touch next time you were over to do another remap for you. he seems to be a very busy man these days, more work than he can get to..

It is very common for oil to leak down the injector loom and put oil into the red ECU plug.

Buy a new injector loom (about £35 for a genuine one) and install, clean out the red plug and socket with brake and clutch cleaner, stand the ECU end on some kitchen paper to let any other oil run out - and reinstall.

And relax..................................

£250 to upload some data............jeez..!
I bet "Mike" is very happy, I'll have 6 please!
there is a bit more to it than that he will also have to replace the eprom chip (not needed on all cars) he must have over 5k worth of equipment in his car but yes i bet he is making some money at it but thats what we all get up in the morning for its not realy a job every one can do:)

Fair point....If the customer is happy at £250 then that's all that matters I suppose, until someone starts doing it cheaper.;)

agree but at the moment he is the cheapest (most want £400+) and he comes to you and he changes the eprom on site (if he has too some times he swops the ecus) and the bigest thing is he has a good name

Guys if you are having your landy remapped you really need to have it on a rolling road, all these "we come to you guys" just upload a standard remap. On a rolling road your motor is checked first and tests run to make sure everything is as it should be, they then adjust the mapping from the results of the first run.

They then tweak it up for either performance or economy depending on your preference.

I would never have a custom map fitted as no single landy runs the same.

Have been quoted almost double that and more from several garages to fit Dasteck/BSI chips and from some accounts not a hell of a lot of difference noticed after doing so..
As I mentioned a huge improvement in performance from before so I am happy...

Tend to agree with 'teddykiller' RE putting it on a rolling road... if I was talking about remapping my 'Skyline' but payed a lot more than £250 for the privelage...
As for the disco, £250 for the results I've got seem fair in comparison...

Fair enough...As long as your happy....!

Believe me there is much more to it than uploading, all his work is his own he has a rolling road for testing plus an array of other hardwear, he has done my fiat van as well he is very good and worth every penny.
