I’ve got several ecus floating about just in case! Lots of good reviews on storm and the fact you’ve driven chipped td5’s and still impressed is a good sign.

When you adjust the wastegate rod make sure that when it’s hitting it’s max (235/240ish on inputs fuelling) it’s up hill and properly under load. Dynachip did mine and for various reasons I’ve not used it much since but recently had to lengthen it a bit as it was overboosting up hills.
Did you touch your turbo with your map?

Yes dynachip did it but as i said we didn’t do fully under load so I found later it was over boosting. Getting 239kpa (1.39bar boost) now
I can’t tell you how much difference there would be between the two maps then as I’ve only driven a stage 1 Dynachip not touching the turbo... friend has a stage 2 alive tuned Disco with intercooler and boost box and I’d say once my turbo is tweaked it easy be more alive haha.. but his is probably an old fashioned map though as it was done years ago

Quite possible dynachips maps were developed years ago too

I have stage 1 made by Alive right now but 2 other chips("eco" and "sport") from BlauPause cos i'm still with the MSB ECU...i'm happy with the Alive as it is cos i improved the boost curve to it's max with a forge actuator + manual boost controler

Tom is adjusting the turbo done by loosening the nut on shaft then tightening the other? I have done a couple turns and it’s hardly made a difference to pressure on the nanocom

Yes that’s right, loosen the nut and then turn the knurled adjuster (not the whole thing) to shorten. I have stump hands so used some grips. Given that you were already seeing 1.29 bar boost the extra 0.1 bar (10kpa) will probably not be that noticeable

Thanks Tom, going on a long run tomorrow so will keep adjusting it until I see 1.34

Managed to bend my turbo actuator arm today so not going to fiddle with it until my new one comes... flat out up hill on the motorway today I saw 95 degrees is that bad does anyone know?

Did you get one from SP4x4? I considered a Forge one but there is no information anywhere about setting them up

95 degrees coolant isn’t too bad, not sure when the thermostat cuts in and out.

Found this on a well known LR forum.... lol

From Rave:

"Thermostat - Main valve

The thermostat is closed at temperatures below approximately 82C (179F). When the coolant temperature reaches approximately 82C the thermostat starts to open and is fully open at approximately 96C (204F)."

However there is also the By-pass flow valve:

"The by-pass flow valve is held closed by a light spring. It operates to further aid heater warm-up. When the main valve is closed and the engine speed is below 1500 rev/min, the coolant pump does not produce sufficient flow and pressure to open the valve. In this condition the valve prevents coolant circulating through the by-pass circuit and forces the coolant through the heater matrix only. This provides a higher flow of warm coolant through the heater matrix to improve passenger comfort in cold conditions.
When the engine speed increases above 1500 rev/min the coolant pump produces a greater flow and pressure than the heater circuit can take. The pressure acts on the flow valve and overcomes the valve spring pressure, opening the valve and limiting the pressure in the heater circuit. The valve modulates to provide maximum coolant flow through the heater matrix and yet allowing excess coolant to flow into the by-pass circuit to provide the engines cooling needs at higher engine rev/min."

Hope this helps - I guess the key question is did you drive the car for a good run at reasonably high engine revs?

Thanks for your help Tom yes got it from sp 4x4 I was exactly the same as you about the forge one and it’s quad the price of a standerd one... just got to learn how to take that little clip from the turbo lol... I’m quite heavy handed at times

I found a small screwdriver underneath with a finger on top to stop it pinging off. Although you’ll be surprised how much other stuff you find looking for that little clip!

I think the forge actuators are meant to be better quality

Thanks bud that’s good to know... So in therory it should stay at about 96 then? Have you thought anymore about getting a Storm remap?

I’ve asked them and he gave me a quote, then he must have stalked me a bit and sent me a screen shot of me recommending dynachip to someone!

Ledgend that’s a great ideal! Looks so easy to loose doesn’t it lol! They may be good quality but no way would I pay over 120 quid... to be honest I dought there would be a lot in it between the two maps but only one way to find out.., does yours smoke much?

It smokes a bit. I did put a video on here and a few people thought it was “excessive” but my definition of excessive is not being able to see in the mirrors!

Looks and sounds awsome mate! That’s funny how Storm matey stalked you lol!! Turbo actuator arrived today is the arm meant to move into the actuator because I can’t move mine ?
