hi guys

On eBay some matey on there is selling remap files for td5 defenders... I have nanocom so could upload it myself...

Thoughts people or is it a load of dog sh’tt?

Ta

I was told that if the remap failed to load completely using the nanocom then it would toast your ecu until you could get it to a competent person, with the right kit.

I personally went to a known good remapper by the name of Mike at Dynachip, worked for me.

Cheers

I’m waiting for td5 inside to come to devon but I’ve been waiting for almost a year now but just wondered if anyone has had the bollocks to do the Ebay map

You can always ship your ECU to most of the known programmers and have them change it for you. If you cannot be bothered to wait or take a drive to one of them.

Cheers

I can vouch for doing this ... I posted my ECU to Dynachip from the Isle of Man, out on a Monday, back by Wednesday, no problems at all. Just need to communicate with Mike beforehand so he knows to expect your ECU ;)

Why no put in a PSI tuning box. Just has pass-through plugs on the ECU - means you can always unplug it and remove all trace of a remap if you need to.

I emailed storm tuning yesterday with regards to the remap by post... it’s all possible because I have a nanocom... would need to log a live data for him before and after the remap to spot any issues along the way... Stage two is with decat egr delete and mid box removal which I have done a long time ago... I am very interested what are people’s thoughts? I think my only concern is if I get my engine too hot? Looks like they know the td5 engine well too

Search Storm tuning on Facebook for more information

I always thought a larger intercooler was required for a stage 2, or is that just on D2's? also how does the removal of parts fit in, if you have to refit them for the MOT?

Cheers
Yes me too Neilly but he explained it’s not needed as his remap adjusts things as needed instead of throwing in a sh’tt load of fuel in... I don’t have to worry about the mot stuff so that’s no issue

Can’t see why you’d prefer to send the ecu off when Mike at Dynachip comes to you and all at a very reasonable cost.
Johnlad I wouldn’t have to send the ecu anywhere, he would send a file to me by email and I would upload it via my nanocom

Mike at Dynachip is very good. If you are doing the upload yourself via Nanocom though make sure the battery is on charge at the time as this seems to be the cause of most upload failures. The last time I saw Mike he had done my td5 defender, he came back from his test run and said now you've had the remap you might want to think about upgrading your brakes to vented ones, at which point I noticed the smoke pouring out from the front brakes! He also made my D2 Auto much more driveable.

Is it safe to charge with the ignition on and battery connected?

No upgraded intercooler needed, just make sure your standard one is in good condition and leak free. Storm Tuning know the Td5 very well so they know it's limits, search them on YouTube and watch his disappear with 240+bhp

You won't get the engine too hot, only issue I've had is warping the exhaust manifold, but that happens even on standard Td5's so was at no fault of the mapping. Probably more to do with me sitting at 90+ on my private runway for 2/3 hours.
