Hi all,
I have a slight clunk on pulling off so i took the chance to check the half shafts and flanges (rear). and yes, the definitely need changing.
mine's got the separate shaft, flange and cir-clip type. to reduce the number of splines to wear can i fit the one piece shaft and flange? if so, is there anything else i need to spec other than 24 spline?
on paddock they are listed as 'quality aftermarket' can anyone confirm if they are in fact 'quality'? if not, where should i buy?

many thanks,
Callum :)

You might be OK just changing the flanges, they tend to wear faster than the half shafts. I had similar play in my transmission, l fitted new rear drive members (l think the official name) and it was fine after that.
Don’t forget to get new gaskets.

i did think that but the wear is quite excessive, i reckon there would still be play even with new flanges. I could imagine a new flange wearing out quickly with the hammering affect.
yes I'll order the gaskets when i order the drive members (thanks for that new official term!).

many thanks,
Callum

I could be wrong, but when Paddocks say that, they really mean Sh*tpart. Might be a good idea to call them and confirm.
I'd agree with "lightning" - fit the new drive members and as long as the shaft splines are OK, and they probably are as the DMs are softer (it would seem), then they are easier and cheaper to replace and gives you a more accessible "point of failure" than picking bits out of the diff, or worse. You probably won't be able to assess the degree of wear on the shaft splines unless you have a new DM to mate with them.
You can get away with using brown paper for a gasket if you have to, but as you're buying it all in, get several and save on the postage for those bits of tissue.

so i ended up ordering drive members and shafts, the play was quite excessive. i've got a very complete history and there's nothing about them being changed.

I ordered OEM drive members and i looked at Ashcroft shafts I know they are top notch but they are very expensive. So i have got Britpart, the drive members will require tapping on to fit which is good, as for material spec who knows!

many thanks,
Callum
