Hi everyone. I have done some extensive searches and not come up with much, so here's my question.

I have a 52 TD5 7 seat which doesn't drive straight.

The rear axle is 5 degrees out of parallel with the vehicle, causing the back to " steer " about 11mm over from the front axle.

Ive measured and checked just about everything under and down the side i can and i keep coming back to the same measurement !.

The chassis is perfectly square, control arms are straight and no wear in bushes.

Whilst doing my, ( mostly laser ) measuring, i did find small, 1 to 2 mm tolerances here and there, and am wondering if these all could have added up to this " problem ".

Is this something that would be within normal manufacturing tolerances for Discoverys, or should they all drive dead straight and Ive missed something.

Any opinions would be welcome.

Cheers

PS, its done 60k and no major accidents.

dunno what sort of laser tool you are using... but when I had my tires put on my TD5 i asked him to check the tracking, when on the rig it was a few degree's out and he reckoned it would make it worse trying to adjust it..

so i do know that a certain tolerance is ok.. mine dont crab though

Thanks for your reply battenberg, I,m really trying to suss out weather its just me being " anal " about it or weather theres something not quite right somewhere.

I wouldnt say the vehicle " crabs ", it just doesnt drive dead straight !.

Cheers.

there was a thread about tracking and the axles a while back... something about tying a piece of string to the towbar and pulling it taught across the wheels... have a search the method there you just may wanna try??
