td5 mileage

hi folks,

could anyone tell me what kind of mileages the disco td5 engines are capable of ?

i am looking at a few this week but most seem to have around the 90/100K mark.

have spotted a couple of td5 ES's that i like the look of - both with full service history - 1 @94k @ 1 @102K

Hi, I bought my TD5 about 3 months ago and like you was looking at similar mileage cars. the mileage didn't put me off but the interiors did as while the engines probably go to Mars and back the buttons, seats and trims look like they only got to the shops at the end of the road before giving way... For the same money as a 100k car i found a 2000 with 65k miles on the clock. a seven seater with main dealer service, with all the bells and whistles and apart from a leak in the roof (which i fixed) the car is perfect. I spent ages looking for my car and went to see a lot of dogs, i eventually found it at an indepenedent garage who was selling cheap as it didn't fit with the rest of his stock (all saloons). if it has service history and the oil is clean the engie will probably be OK, but definately check trim, electrics and get underneath to look for rust, usually a sign that it has been used for putting boats in and out of the sea... good luck

They can cover high mileage if looked after, make sure you get one with history and in good order. If a manual box, check the change action as the synco can go.

Suppose it depends who's owned it !, I bought mine with 91k on the clock, 2 owners and full service history, the only problem so far is that 2nd gear has developed an expensive sounding cruch ! apart from that engine,elecs and trim are all ok.
