td5 injector washers had to slip on,and afer words major amont of oil geting in sump!

hi iv just had a mechanic do a hommer on my 1999 discovery and replace the head and replaced the injector seals and washers with brit part ones the copper washers were very hard to put on like the injectors were swelled near the top its all fitted together but after i bit of fafing relised there is loads of diesel geting into the sump has we drained the oil and flicked it over and u can here the diesel going into the drainer under the car any help? darn thing! lol

That is likely to be the O rings on the injectors not sealing if there is that much diesel flowing. Take the cam cover off and switch the ignition on. You should see where that much diesel is coming from.

Sounds like the job was beyond your capabilities.

Did you have these problems before you did the job?

no cracked head replaced it and fitted brit part washers and seals the washers were very tight like it was sweeled up half way up where the washers go! once it was all together started it after a bit of turning run for abt 3 mins then stoped it cheaked the oil and noticed oil level high drained oil and turned it over with out firing and its puting lots of oil thru sump into the drainer on floor had another look tonite going to order landrover seals and washers and see how they fit

Had the same problem with copper washers i had bought, a very tight fit and still had the fuel leaking.Got them off Fleabay Went and bought Land Rover ones a bit more expensive and they slid on without any struggle and problem sorted. Sometimes it pays to get original parts and sometimes it's too bloody expensive.

well found out why there was diesel geting in the sump one seal was fitted wrong and finaly on the road but other problems now! darn thing!!!

Diesel getting into engine oil...

Can eventually lead to engine runaway, which always, always destroys engines unless you react very fast indeed
