hi all can any one tell me if the electronic fan on the front off a td5 is not work can this put the ecu in to default mode or not ?
i think the main use is for the air con but also says in the ravco that its used to help cool the eng
i was not sure if when the ecu dose its test on start up and found that it was not working if it would but the ecu in to default mode

as a matter of fact it's electric, not electronic;)... anyway this one will not affect the ECM at all, not as much as the A/C ECU cos it's not included in the diagnostic protocol. In a colder climate u can drive without it. Did u check it's fuse?

The only inconvenience is that if it'll be very warm(over +25) then the A/C system will not provide u as cold air as with the fan on and the viscous fan will work harder (instead of it too) which could reduce a bit the power of the engine...maybe that's why u thought it affects the engine management... this electric fan has his own role in the cooling system but not a vital one.

The electric fan in front of the radiator is for the air-con system predominantly but is also used for emergency engine cooling.

During the long winter months the air-con is not used and the fans often seize up and die, like yours.

The only implication of the air-con fan not working is that the air-con cooling will be less effective - it won't affect engine performance, on it's own.
