Hi all.
I've got my discovery td5 up for sale and I've found someone who has offered to use a Snap On diagnostic scanner to turn the dash light off for my airbags, (i've got springs on now) at the same time I want to tell it the ACE has been removed. The bloke doing it has never tried to do this with his scanner so I wondered if anyone on here has got one and knows if it is possible to do?
I'm sorry but I don't know the exact model of his scanner.

If that fails has anyone got a nanocom anywhere in Derbyshire.
Thanks.

Snap On scanners will not perform these tasks,Autologic will and someone will know if Nanocom will.Testbook will do the SLS but not the ACE,but Sierraferry will confirm that bridging pins 11 and 36 of the ACE ecu plug will do the trick.

It IS NOT CORRECT TO SAY SNAP ON SCANNERS ARE UNABLE TO PERFORM THESE TASKS. THERE ARE AS MANY MODELS OF SNAP ON SCANNERS AS THERE ARE DISCOVERIES. OUR SNAP ON SOLUS ULTRA PERFORMS ALL THESE TASKS AND MANY MORE ALL THROUGH THE LAND ROVER MODELS.

You've left your hearing aid on

allen, is there any way you could give me any advice on how it is done. ie which menu you go to etc, if that even makes sence. I've never had anything to do with this sort of thing but just thought i could pass on any info to the bloke with the machine.

I'd completely forgot about what Sierraferry had said. where is that plug and do you leave it unplugged once you've bridged it or does it need to be plugged back in.

Rasher. The operator should know how to operate his scanner? Without knowing the model he is using I can't help you sorry. It's a bit too far from N.Yorks to you.

He knows how to change it over to springs so I'll be able to do that and the plug mod to get it sorted if he can't work out how to change the ace setting.
If his scanner can change the spring setting why would it not be able to do the ace?
He didn't say it couldn't, It was just that he had never done it. he has used it to do a few air bag to springs.

First off I'm not deaf, and the model of Snap On scanner does not matter, what does is the software version, mine is very recent and will not perform these tasks,if yours is bang up to date and will then I'm very pleased for you.Be very careful how much trust you put into Snap On software, its not all correct. For instance live data on DII EAT.

i dunno much about that particular snap -on scanner, i have doubts that it can work with ACE though, bridge those pins and leave it unplugged... the gist with some of the warning lights is that they will go out if they get voltage on the earth path from ECU

Hands up - I was wrong, the Snap On tool will switch off the SLS.But my version of the software does not even mention ACE in the menu.
So, by bridging the pins and with the Snappy scanner you should be all good.

Let's not get into an argument about this. This forum is for us to help each other is it not? I have no vested interest in promoting Snap-On scanners but I wouldn't say our scanner is capable of doing a task unless it had several times. I pay a fortune for regular upgrades because having Land Rover specific diagnostic equipment is not cost effective for a garage like ours that works on various cars/vans & 4x4 vehicles even if Land Rovers are our mainstay. My apologies to eigtinavee one of our apprentices just pointed out to me that righting in upper case is shouting. Not intended sorry.

No Go. Managed to turn the airbags to springs but couldn't find an option to do anything with the slab/Ace. nothing else was showing up in the suspension section.

As i suspected, imo that tool can't manage ACE, ACE has nothing to do with SLABS, if it's in the menu it's in "Chassis" not suspension and it's managed by separate ECU
