Hoping someone can help on this one please. I've noticed in recent weeks what i thought was the usual oil leak but having checked it would appear to be diesel.
On reading some previous threads on this, it looks to be the FPR Valve. Some people seem to be using a £10 repair kit whilst others are replacing the complete unit, and again some if not most are still experiencing leaks.
M.O.T due in 3 weeks and this will surely be a fail.
Any info much appreciated.

Cheers

Grant

Thanks for the quick response. The repair kits would appear to come with all gaskets but not the diaphram which is the cause according to some...what should i be lookin for ?

Just bare in mind that if you are going to buy a new FPR, there are two different versions depending on which TD5 engine you have: 10P or 15P.

Also, the kits can work but you do need to ensure they have ALL the necessary bits included. Usually the FPR to engine block gasket is separate as is a small O-ring.

Hi Dave, thanks for that I was hoping someone would say the kits can work, think I would initially rather attempt a repair IF it can be done for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement. I've noticed that some of the kits come with a replacement regulator also.
Incidently its a MY 2000 TD5....

IMO those kits are false economy...maybe it will work at the beginning but there's a big chance they wo'nt last much... anyway if you go for a kit get the one with the valve included

Hi Grant if you're buying the kit to try first - and why wouldn't you at a fraction of the cost of a new unit - the engine type doesn't matter.

It's a bit of a fiddly job but get out all your tools and you'll be fine.

The best of luck to you,

Dave

Cheers for that Dave, gonna try a repair first with a rebuild kit including the regulator, there's a guy in Coventry selling them at £39.95 which seems more reasonable.
The only thing with the repair kit (gaskets only),it mentions a regulator tip seal and regulator body seal, the rebuild kit doesn't mention both of those, are they part of the regulator or do I have to buy them seperately ?

Cheers

Hi Grant, truly speaking I'm not sure. I normally buy the £10-£12 kits (like the ones I linked to) and they seem to have everything in them.
